Yobs throw FIREWORK into block of flats on Sheffield estate – putting lives at risk

Yobs have been condemned for putting lives at risk by throwing a firework into a flat in Sheffield.

The attack sparked a fire in the flat on White Thorns View, Batemoor, on Saturday night and emergency services were alerted.

Residents said a concerned woman on the street banged on all the doors of the flats in the block where the blaze broke out to raise the alarm.

The flat targeted by yobs was empty at the at the time but residents have raised concerns of the potential consequences.

One woman said: “I understand children need to keep themselves entertained but this is ridiculous and I’m scared for people’s safety.

“Luckily no-one was in at the time and the fire service was amazing and responded to the call quickly.

“This is just ridiculous at this time of year. I'm not sure if anyone has been caught for this yet.”

She said: “There was nobody in the flat at the time but people were in the others in the rest of the block and a woman went round shouting and knocking on every one to alert them.

“It's such a scary time of the year and the circumstances could have been 100 times worse.

“I just feel everyone needs to know what kids are capable of at this time of year, well anytime of year really.”

On Saturday night, police officers dealing with an incident on Wensley Street, Grimesthorpe, came under attack from yobs armed with fireworks.
