No-one was injured but it is the latest in a series of attacks and there are fears either a driver or passengers will be seriously hurt.

First South Yorkshire had diverted services 41 and 51 away from parts of Arbourthorne before Christmas after missiles were thrown but passengers said they had been left stranded.

But the attacks have now resumed and local councillor Ben Miskell has urged the community to speak up if they have any information.

“People in Arbourthorne are sick of this mindless behaviour. We can’t have large groups of yobs attacking buses and intimidating people,” he said.

“I know that footage exists of these individuals and it’s out there in the community. If you have CCTV on your house that may have caught any of these incidents, or know who is responsible, please pass it on to the police.”

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “We are aware of reports circulating on social media relating to a group of youths causing damage and committing anti social behaviour in the Manor Top area.”

Nigel Eggleton, managing director of First, previously said: “We appreciate entirely how important services are to residents. We do not want our drivers and passengers under threat of what could be a severe injury if a brick goes through the window and hits them on the head.”

The 51 service was diverted away from Daresbury Road, Newfield Green, Gleadless Road to Hollinsend Road to re-join the normal route on Saturday but remains operational without diversion at present.
