Violent thugs break into Sheffield home and ‘attack young man with a hammer’

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said officers were called to Edge Close in Fox Hill at 10.24pm on Monday to reports a group of people had broken into an address and assaulted the occupant.

They added: “On arrival, officers discovered a 23-year-old man with a head injury. He was taken to hospital for medical treatment but has since been discharged.

“Area searches were carried out, but the offenders had left the scene.” Police said their identities are not known at this stage.

One man claimed the “violent” attack was carried out by four men, who also damaged a door, window, television and car.

The investigation is being treated as an aggravated burglary and anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting incident number 1027 of 17 August.
