The 23-year-old man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, "cajoled" the woman into appearing "unclothed in various degrees," on Valentine's Day, last year.

But when she ended the relationship shortly afterwards, he sent the pictures to two of her housemates, and a screenshot of that message to her saying, "thanks for nothing".

The housemates reported this to police and he was spoken to by officers on March 22, and released under investigation.

He later made contact with a “particularly vulnerable” 15-year-old girl, on social media, and met her in McDonald's, in July 2019, when he asked her for nude photos.

Fortunately she didn't agree to this, but her mother found out, Sheffield Crown Court heard on Wednesday.

Rebecca Tanner, mitigating, said her client was "immature", had no previous convictions, and had worked since he was 16.

"If he goes into immediate custody the prospect of him being able to undertake a rehabilitation programme is remote," she said.

He failed to accept the end of the relationship, she said, adding that it was “a mean offence designed to cause embarassment.”

The defendant pleaded guilty to meeting a child following grooming, inciting a child into sexual activity, and two counts of disclosing a private picture.

Judge Roger Thomas QC told the defendant his conduct was "intended to cause humiliation and distress," adding there was "a deeply disturbing and unsatisfactory aspect" to "your attitude to women, relationships and sex."

"When your relationship ended after only a few months, you took it very badly,” he said. “You were very put out by what she said. You were vengeful and nasty.”

Referring to the second offence, the judge said: "Girls of that age can all so easily be influenced and attracted by older individuals, particularly in the world of the internet as it is now.

“Appropriate punishment can only be achieved by immediate custody.”

He sentenced him to 16 months in prison, imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and placed him on the Sexual Offenders Register for ten years.
