Travellers who set up an illegal site in Sheffield have vowed to leave the city by the end of the week.

Caravans, vans and cars have been parked on a field opposite Goals football centre on Norfolk Park Road, Norfolk Park, for a number of days.

The travellers have pitched up close to football fields used by Pro Socker Pumas Junior Football Club.

They are said to be leaving by Friday.

The council said: “We have visited the site to speak to the occupants and provide advice and support in relation to waste and health and safety.

“We have been assured that this is temporary and all those currently on site will vacate by Friday 30 April.

“We will make a further visit on Thursday to make sure they still intend to move on as planned.”
