Tragedy as motorcyclist killed in horror Sheffield crash after paramedics battled to save him

A motorcyclist was killed in a collision in Sheffield yesterday, South Yorkshire Police has revealed.

The 73-year-old, who has not yet been named, was involved in a collision on Mortimer Road, near to Strines, yesterday afternoon.

Despite the efforts of paramedics, he could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene.

South Yorkshire Police said: “We received a call at 12:23pm on March 30 for reports of a road traffic collision involving a motorcyclist on Mortimer Road in Sheffield.“Yorkshire Ambulance Service and the air ambulance service attended but despite their best efforts, the driver, a 73 year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

“His family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.”

The crash scene was blocked off for a number of hours while crash scene investigation work was carried out but it has since re-opened.

An inquest into the death will be held.
