Police in Sheffield hunt knifeman after attempted robbery

Police in Sheffield have issued a CCTV appeal following an attempted knife-point robbery.

A 22-year-old man had reportedly met a stranger at premises on St Mary’s Road, near Sheffield city centre to sell him a PlayStation 5 on March 5, at around 4.25pm.

As the victim was unboxing the games console to show it to the prospective buyer, the attacker is said to have pulled a knife from his trousers, pointed it at the victim and attempted to take the PlayStation.

The victim, with the help of a passer-by, tried to stop him taking the console and attempted grab the knife, and the man fled the scene before officers arrived.

Police are keen to speak to the man pictured in this CCTV image as they believe he could help with their enquiries.

Anyone who recognises him is asked to call police on 101, quoting the incident number 635 of March 5.
