“Their efforts resulted in the owner assaulting them which is totally unacceptable when they are simply carrying out their duty.”

The South Yorkshire branch of the Police Federation said: “Truly appalling to hear of another example of an employee of South Yorkshire Police being assaulted simply doing their duty in protecting and serving the public.

"Whilst we as the Police Federation represent the majority of the police officers of South Yorkshire Police, we would like to our offer our best wishes to the PCSOs involved and hope the the offender is dealt with as robustly as possible by the court.”
