Teenagers arrested over South Yorkshire attempted murder

Police have made three arrests in connection to two incidents in which men were stabbed in Rotherham.

Three boys, two 16-year-olds and one 17-year-old, have been arrested on suspicion of two counts of attempted murder. The two 16-year-old boys remain in police custody. The 17-year-old boy has been bailed.

The arrests have been made in connection to two incidents in Rotherham Town Centre earlier this week.

Police were called at around 4:50pm on 7 July to reports that a man had been stabbed in High Street.

Emergency services attended the scene and a 30-year-old man was taken to hospital via ambulance after suffering serious stab wounds. He remains in hospital in a serious condition.

Police were again called at around 11:15am on 8 July to reports that a second man had been stabbed in Spring Walk.

Officers are treating the incidents as linked.

Investigations have been launched into both incidents, and enquiries continue at pace.
