Teenager arrested after boy is stabbed in Sheffield park

A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery following an incident in Endcliffe Park yesterday (July 24) where a boy was stabbed.

Officers were called to Endcliffe Park in Sheffield just before 6.45pm following reports that a large group had gathered inside the park at an unlicensed music event.

On arrival officers discovered a 15-year-old boy who had been stabbed in the shoulder. He suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital by ambulance as a precaution.

A 19-year-old man from Bradford was arrested on suspicion of robbery. He remains in police custody.

Last night officers also arrested a 16-year-old boy from Sheffield on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon. This incident is unrelated to the stabbing.

The group behind the unlicensed music event was cooperative with local neighbourhood and response officers and left the area when asked to do so.

District Commander for Sheffield Chief Supt Stuart Barton said: “This gathering was dealt with swiftly by officers and there has been nothing but praise from the public for the way they conducted the operation.

“Endcliffe Park is a public space, which residents of all ages expect to be able to enjoy in a safe and peaceful manner.

“Officers will continue to patrol the area over the weekend to provide reassurance to people out enjoying the park.”
