Suspect charged over Sheffield shootings in which man was injured and dog later died

A man has been charged in connection with two shootings in Sheffield – one which left another man injured and one which led to the death of a dog.

Awias Ahmed, aged 20, of Empire Road, Nether Edge, Sheffield, was arrested this month as part of investigations into shootings in the city in July and August.

In the first incident, on July 24, officers were called to Abbeydale Road to reports of shots being fired and discovered an injured dog which later had to be put down as a result of the injuries sustained.

The following month, an 18-year-old man was shot in his foot in a gun attack on Harwell Road, Nether Edge.

Ahmed is due to appear at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court today after being charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition.
