Police release update as man suffers ‘multiple injuries’ during Ecclesall Road attack

A man remains in a critical condition in hospital after he was attacked on a busy road in Sheffield.

The critically injured 36-year-old was airlifted to hospital after the attack on Saturday, where he remains today.

No arrests have yet been made over the attack itself, but a 31-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender over the weekend remains in police custody today.

In a new statement provided today, South Yorkshire Police detailed the extent of the victim’s injuries.

The force said: “The injured man remains in hospital in a critical condition.

“He was physically assaulted and suffered multiple injuries, but no weapons are believed to have been used.

“It’s not being treated as connected to anything else at this time, but enquiries are still ongoing.”

Witnesses or motorists with dash cam footage from the area on the night of the attack should call South Yorkshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
