Suspect arrested over Sheffield shootings in which man was injured and dog later died

A suspect has been arrested over two shootings in Sheffield – one in which a man was injured and another in which a dog later died.

The 20-year-old was arrested this morning and is being quizzed on suspicion of assault, criminal damage and possession of a firearm in connection to shootings on Harwell Road, Nether Edge, on August 29 and Abbeydale Road on July 24.

In the most recent incident, an 18-year-old was shot in his foot.

On July 24, officers were called to Abbeydale Road to reports of shots being fired and discovered an injured dog which had to be put down.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Murphy said: “We are continuing to carry out enforcement action to find those responsible and involved in firearms activity.

“We know how concerning incidents of this nature are for our communities and we will continue to take action. I would like to remind you that we are stronger with your help.”
