Staff at a South Yorkshire shop were threatened with a hammer and crowbar during an armed robbery say police

The hunt is on to find three suspects who used a crowbar and a hammer to threaten staff members and take money from the till at an armed robbery in South Yorkshire.

Officers investigating a reported armed robbery at a shop in the Masbrough area of Rotherham last weekend have released an appeal for information.A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “At 6.30pm on Sunday January 10, it is reported three unknown suspects entered Avondale Store on Avondale Road, Masbrough, threatening staff with a hammer and crowbar.“The three suspects then stole the cash drawer from the till and left the scene in a silver people carrier-type car, possibly a Vauxhall Zafira, which they had arrived at the shop in.“The suspects are described as being male and all wearing dark clothing with hoods up and faces covered.”Anyone who may have witnessed the robbery, seen the suspects or a silver vehicle in the area on Sunday evening should call 101 quoting: 804 of 10/1/2021.
