South Yorkshire Police find thousands of pounds worth of cannabis in car abandoned after crash
An eyewitness to the collision on the A57, close to the Todwick roundabout, said dried cannabis was strewn across the carriageway after the crash at around 6.20am.

Hide AdA black stolen Volvo and a white Mercedes were involved in the smash, with the Mercedes ending up on its roof.
The Volvo driver fled the scene before police officers arrived.


Steve Ashton, who witnessed the collision, said he feared it was a fatal collision.

Hide Ad“The Mercedes passed me and the next thing I knew was the car spinning in the air about three times before landing on its roof and then continuing along the road for around 100 metres upside down.
“I slammed my brakes on and came to a stop just where the other car involved in the crash was.
“As I got out of my car and walked towards it, I was thinking that I was going to see something pretty horrific. I did not think anyone would have survived that but the car was empty apart from bags and bags of cannabis. There must have been thousands of pounds worth and it was all over the road too.”

Hide AdHe added: “Somehow, further down the road, the driver of the white Mercedes managed to climb out and walk away from the wreckage. He will never be as lucky again.”
An investigation into the incident it under way, with South Yorkshire Police revealing that the Volvo was a stolen car.
