South Yorkshire Police alerted as girl and mum are assaulted by man on busy road

A man has been arrested over reports that a teenage girl and her mum were assaulted on a busy South Yorkshire road.

South Yorkshire Police said officers are investigating reports that a 14-year-old girl was assaulted on East Bawtry Road, Rotherham, at around 5pm on Sunday, June 13.

The girl was allegedly attacked at the side of the road by a man, sustaining minor injuries to her face and body.

The girl’s mother was also allegedly attacked by the same man after rushing to the aid of her daughter.

South Yorkshire Police said: “Numerous members of the public and drivers were in the area, and we are appealing for anyone who was travelling along the road and who holds dash cam footage to get in touch.

“If you saw what happened, and can assist our investigation, please contact us.”

A 34-year-old was arrested on suspicion of assault and bailed.
