Emergency services were alerted by a resident in Darley Avenue, after Mr Riley banged on their window, pleading for help.

Police and paramedics found him slumped over a garden wall, unconscious and not breathing.

He was taken to Barnsley Hospital but could not be saved.

Jurors in Wilson’s trial heard how on the evening of the stabbing Mr Riley visited Wilson’s home and neighbours heard arguing.

Mr Riley left on foot and CCTV cameras captured Wilson following him on a bike before violence later broke out.
