Shocking footage shows extent of damage caused to Sheffield flats after huge fire

A woman whose flat was destroyed in a blaze in Sheffield has shared a video of the extent of the damage.

Her flat in a block on Batemoor Road, Batemoor, was seriously damaged when a neighbouring property caught fire last night.

The block suffered fire, smoke and water damage and a full inspection is due to be carried out today.

South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said firefighters rescued three people from the block.

There are also reports that a child was thrown from one of the windows to a member of the public below.

Other residents had to climb down ladders to escape.

When firefighters arrived, flames were shooting out of one of the windows in the block as shocked residents gathered and helped those trapped inside.

The cause of the blaze has not yet been confirmed by South Yorkshire Police but a statement on the incident is expected later today.
