Shock as police make filthy find in knife amnesty bin next to busy Sheffield road
Two PCSOs had to clean the bin and restored it to its proper use
A Sheffield knife amnesty bin was put out of action - after dog dirt was thrown inside it instead of knives.

South Yorkshire Police officers emptying the bin discovered a dog owner had misused the facility, on Birley Moor Road, near Frecheville, which is intended to help take dangerous blades off the streets of Sheffield.
Police said in a statement that the bin was not used for its proper purpose and was instead used to dispose of dog waste.
They said: “Two of our PCSOs have cleaned the bin and restored it so it is fit for its proper use. Incidents like this use up our officers' time in which they could be helping our local communities.
“It has also meant the amnesty bin couldn't be used for its intended purpose - to help prevent and reduce knife crime.
“In Sheffield, we have all felt the devastating consequences that knife crime brings and these amnesty bins offer people the opportunity to get rid of weapons - no questions asked. “
