Sheffield's Page Hall police team find cannabis worth £50,000 in car boot at Costa Drive-Thru

More than £50,000 worth of cannabis was found inside a car boot at a Costa Drive-Thru in Sheffield.

Police made the discovery at the Costa Coffee Drive-Thru at Meadowhall on Wednesday after the driver and passenger of a silver Ford Focus ‘jumped out and fled’ when they spotted officers.

A force spokesperson joked the driver should ‘have had a bit more caffeine’ after he was caught by officers from Page Hall’s dedicated policing team and arrested for Possession with Intent to Supply Controlled Drugs and immigration offences.

A Facebook post read: “A search of the battered Focus revealed there was definitely more than just the (now cold!) coffees and cheese toasties inside – a boot full of freshly cropped and bagged cannabis bud!

The car was seized and will be forensically examined to identify the passenger following “a very costly Costa Coffee,” police said.
