A video showing violence breaking out between fans outside Hillsborough Stadium on Saturday has gone viral.

Footage shared on social media shows a group of five supporters trading blows outside the ground ahead of the Sheffield Wednesday v Plymouth Argyle match, which the Owls won 1-0. In one 28-second clip, which has been viewed more than 260,000 times on Twitter, those involved in the scuffle can be seen kicking and punching one another.

The video was shared by @sawyer_macca, who titled the clip ‘Yorkshire Pudding V Cornish Pastie’, though viewers were quick to point out that Plymouth is actually in Devon. The violence, in which nobody appears to be seriously injured, was branded ‘pathetic’ on one fans’ website. One person commenting wrote: “Ban the clowns on both sides. They’re all an embarrassment.”

Around 33,000 spectators watched the table-topping clash, with the home fans belting out a rousing rendition of the club anthem Hi Ho Silver Lining as the Owls extended their record unbeaten run.
