Sheffield student police officer Robert Veza denies sexual relationship with victim of crime
A 44-year-old man has denied having a inappropriate sexual relationship with a victim of crime when he was a student officer with South Yorkshire Police, and will now stand trial.
Robert Veza is accused of having an inappropriate sexual relationship with a female victim of crime.
Mr Veza, of Parson Cross, Sheffield, was brought before The Recorder of Sheffield, Judge Jeremy Richardson KC, for a plea hearing this morning (Monday, March 16, 2026).

He entered a plea of not guilty to a single charge of misconduct in public office, namely police officer, in that he is alleged to have wilfully misconducted himself amounting to an abuse of the public’s trust.
The charge relates to an accusation that Mr Veza had an inappropriate sexual relationship with a female victim of crime.
Dressed in a grey suit and blue, button-down shirt, Mr Veza spoke only to enter his plea and to confirm he understood what was being said, during the course of the brief, 25-minute hearing.
Mr Veza held the role of student police officer at the time of the alleged offence between January and August 2024, but resigned from the force more than a year later, in January 2026.
He held the role of police constable for a neighbourhood team based in Sheffield.
He is understood to have been on his probation period with South Yorkshire Police when the offence is alleged to have been committed.
Following Mr Veza’s plea, Judge Richardson fixed a trial date for September 2026, with an estimate of four days plus.
He was released on conditional bail until his next hearing at the court.
