Sheffield primary school issues safety message over staff and pupils after street fight

A Sheffield school has issued a message about the safety of staff and pupils after police cordoned off a crime scene nearby.

Queens Road is blocked and some side streets fall within the cordon, near Lowfield primary School on London Road.

Police investigation work is being carried out at the crime scene and a heightened police presence is expected for most of the day.

It said: “There are some roads closed off near school today due to a police incident.

“Everyone is safe and well in school. Check local media for updates on road closures throughout the day.”

South Yorkshire Police said an 18-year-old man suffered a serious leg injury in a fight on Queens Road last night.

Emergency services were alerted at 9.49pm and the casualty was taken to hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.
