Glenn Bowling, aged 21, of Callow Mount, near Heeley, Sheffield, had been given a two-year community order with 100 hours of unpaid work and a Rehabilitation Activity Requirement after he had attacked his ex-partner, according to a Sheffield Crown Court hearing.

But Hannah Walker, prosecuting, told the hearing on March 2 Bowling breached the community order by failing to comply with the Rehabilitation Activity Requirement and by not completing his unpaid work.

Recorder David Kelly said: “The facts of the case are a single punch which fractured an eye socket of his partner in the course of an argument.”

Richard Adams, defending, said the offence happened nearly three years ago and he has not committed any other offences and he has a platonic relationship with the complainant.

He added that Bowling suffers with anxiety and depression but he is seeing a doctor and he is due to start work as a warehouse operative.
