A jealous South Yorkshire thug who attacked his partner during a violent rampage has been jailed

Sheffield Crown Court heard on March 2 how Steven Beckett, aged 33, of Lorna Road, Mexborough, Doncaster, attacked his partner and her son before driving a car dangerously and damaging two other vehicles and assaulting a police officer.
Richard Davies, prosecuting, said the complainant said there were problems with Beckett drinking and arguing and he had accused her of being unfaithful.

Hide AdHe added Beckett pushed his partner onto a sofa before kicking her from behind with a steel, toe-capped boot and pushing her son who had been trying to find his mother’s phone to call for help.
Recorder David Kelly told Beckett: “When you were under the influence an argument ensued born out of your jealousy.”
The complainant ran from the house and her son and two daughters were later left with her sister-in-law who lives nearby, according to Mr Davies.
Beckett also drove his car into his partner’s vehicle, according to Mr Davies, and he had a scuffle and dispute with a concerned neighbour and threw a metal pole through the windscreen of the neighbour’s vehicle and drove into his car.

Hide AdMr Davies added police located Beckett and while he was resisting the defendant grabbed a police officer’s testicles before he was restrained with PAVA spray.
Beckett, who has previous previous convictions, pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm, common assault, two counts of criminal damage, dangerous driving, and assaulting an emergency worker after the incident on December 16, last year.
Hannah Walker, defending, said: “He behaved unacceptably and he is ashamed of himself and he knows he should not have acted like that.”
She added: “He had been drinking and he should not drink and he believed she was conducting an affair and he lost his temper.”

Hide AdMs Walker said Beckett has mental health problems and he suffered a broken wrist during his arrest.
Recorder David Kelly sentenced Beckett to 17 months of custody with a five-year restraining order and he was disqualified from driving for 20 months to allow for time spent in custody.
