Rotherham man, 28, in court today charged with murder of Ann Widdecombe
He was arrested two days after the well known politician’s death
A Rotherham man will appear in court today charged with the murder of Ann Widdecombe.
Joshua Kerry, aged 28, of Byrley Road, Kimberworth Park, Rotherham, was charged on Monday, July 21, following 12 days of “complex and intensive” investigation.
He was remanded in custody to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court today.

The 28-year-old was arrested following the discovery of Miss Widdecombe’s body in her home in Haytor, Devon, two days earlier.
Yesterday afternoon, Assistant Commissioner Laurence Taylor, head of national counter terrorism policing, called the case “a particularly intensive and complex investigation” with over 800 lines of enquiry.
He said: “I want to make it very clear that our investigation into this individual, determining his motivations and any wider activity he may have been involved in is continuing.
“Given Ann Widdecombe’s profile and the targeted nature of the attack, determining the motivation, including any possible political motivation, remains an active avenue of investigation for our detectives.”
Ms Widdecombe, 78, a former Conservative minister and Reform UK spokeswoman, was found dead on July 9.
Investigators are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
Counter Terrorism Policing South East has been leading the investigation, supported by Devon and Cornwall Police.
