The Sheffield South West neighbourhood policing team, which covers areas including Batemoor and Sharrow, said although it may be ‘tempting’ to leave home because of the good weather this weekend, the UK remains on lockdown.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson is set to address the nation on Sunday to discuss how the lockdown will eventually be lifted, but the strict social distancing measures currently remain in place.

Inspector Colette Fitzgibbons said: “I know the weather is due to be good for at least part of the weekend.“A reminder please that the Covid regulations remain in place and we all therefore need to stick to them.“I know whilst it it warmer it is tempting to get out and about more.“We will have staff on duty for the whole weekend and it would be lovely to hear from them on Monday that we have not had full parks, open spaces or people going out to the shops in numbers.“Please do not let your children go out playing in the street either, they need protecting too as do the people living in the vicinity who may be vulnerable or feel anxious through seeing such activity.“Also, whilst ever staff are dealing with Covid breaches they are not there to help their response colleagues with any immediate incidents that come in or doing their burglary patrols.“Remember ‘Stay At Home Save Lives’ is still the message.”
