Police seize knives, drugs and cash in Sheffield suburb

Knives, drugs and cash were seized in a police operation in Sheffield as part of efforts to prevent serious criminality in the city.

South Yorkshire Police’s serious violent crime taskforce took to the streets of Sharrow yesterday, Monday, March 2, to look for those involved in serious and organised crime and violence.

A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs after officers stopped a car on London Road.

Officers also arrested a 23-year-old man on suspicion of a number of offences, including possession with intent to supply Class B drugs, driving whilst disqualified and money laundering.

Both remain in custody today.

Two knives were found in the area around the Washington Road flats complex and two vehicles were seized.

Sergeant Ashley Franklin, from the serious violent crime taskforce, said: “We are continuing to work extremely hard to deal with issues that are a blight on communities around South Yorkshire.”
