South Yorkshire Police seek witnesses after man is shot and stabbed

Police officers were deployed to Clough Road, Masbrough, Rotherham, at around 2pm yesterday after a 22-year-old man was shot in his thigh and stabbed.

He was taken to hospital, where he was stable last night.

Two men wanted over the attack ran off.

Detective Inspector Janine Broughton said: “The investigation is in the early stages, but our priority is to speak to anyone who was on Clough Road, or in the surrounding area, between 1.50pm and 2.30pm yesterday afternoon.

“Did you see anything unusual or suspicious during that time period? If so, please contact us immediately as your information may help us with our investigation.

“We have increased police patrols in the area, and you will see extra officers as we carry out enquiries, examine the scene and gather CCTV footage.”
