Police release more details on Christmas Eve shooting in Sheffield

Detectives investigating a Christmas Eve shooting in Sheffield have released more details today.

Officers were deployed to Lowedges Crescent, Lowedges, at 4.30pm on Thursday, December 24 after reports of gunfire on the city estate.

They sealed off the street as families celebrated Christmas Eve.

Nearly one week on, detectives are still hunting the gunman or group involved.

South Yorkshire Police said a gun was fired from a vehicle towards the occupants of a grey Vauxhall Astra.

CCTV footage is being examined in a bid to track down those involved.

The police force said: “It was reported that a unknown vehicle fired a weapon towards the occupants of a grey Astra. We believe all those involved were inside their cars at the time.“We are currently working to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident by reviewing nearby CCTV footage.”Anyone with information should call South Yorkshire Police on 101 and quote incident number 568 of December 24.
