Two homes in Arbourthorne were shot at in less than 10 minutes on Tuesday, in what detectives are treating as ‘targeted’ attacks.

Police officers received reports of a shooting on Errington Avenue at 9.45pm and then reports of another on Aylward Road at 9.53pm.

Bullet holes could be seen in windows at both properties but nobody was injured.

Homes on St Aiden’s Avenue, Norfolk Park and Ironside Close, Gleadless Valley, were raided yesterday as part of the investigation and a burnt out car was recovered.

Superintendent Delphine Waring said: “Although the investigation is in its early stages, we believe the two incidents to be linked.

“We understand that the people involved are likely to be known to each other, and we believe this to be a targeted attack. I do not believe there is a wider risk to the public.”
