Police name woman stabbed to death in Sheffield as accused appears in court

A woman stabbed to death in Sheffield has been named as ‘mum and nannan’ Simone Hancock.

The 55-year-old woman was found seriously injured in a flat on Ravenscroft Place, Richmond, at 10.30pm on Saturday, July 4.

She was taken to hospital but could not be saved and was pronounced dead an hour later.

A post-mortem examination showed that she died from stab wounds.

In a statement, her grieving family said: “Much love to our mum, nannan, daughter, sister and auntie.”

Kerry Taylor, 41, of Ravenscroft Place, has been charged with murder, remanded in police custody and is due at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court today.

A 36-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder has been released under investigation.
