The woman took to Facebook to warn others to be on their guard after witnessing a gun attack close to the row of shops on Chadwick Road, Woodthorpe, yesterday afternoon.

She said a moped, carrying two men, pulled up outside a house and a gun was fired at around 4.30pm, while there were people in the street.

The 32-year-old, from Arbourthorne, was driving home after a shopping trip to Asda when she witnessed the shooting as she was at the junction of Hastilar Road South and about to turn into Chadwick Road.

She said: “There was a taxi in front of me, as I’m waiting to turn I saw a moped with two blokes drive straight on to someone’s driveway.

“Then all of a sudden I hear bangs and registered he had a gun. It was all brown with a black end.

“I don’t know what happened after as I was terrified and wanted to get away from the area as soon as possible as he was shooting at the houses but in my direction, so I panicked.

“I just needed to get myself out of the area but there was a lot of people where he was shooting and people stood about and the taxi driver that was in front of me slowed up to watch. I had to get him to move his car as he was blocking the junction for me to leave.”

South Yorkshire Police said firearms officers were deployed to Nodder Road but there was no evidence of a shooting.

The force said: “Officers were called to the Woodthorpe area of Sheffield at around 4.30pm yesterday after reports of a firearms discharge.

“Firearms officers attended and conducted area searches but no evidence of a firearms discharge was found.

“Enquiries are ongoing.
