Police launch investigation after thug fractures Sheffield boy’s eye socket outside school

Witnesses to an attack in which a Sheffield schoolboy was knocked unconscious by a man in a van are being urged to come forward.

Gabriel Sousa, aged 13, was walking home from lessons when a man jumped out of a van and attacked him outside Abbeyfield Primary School, Pitsmoor.

The Parkwood Academy student was moments away from his Pitsmoor home when he was targeted at around 3.50pm on Thursday, May 6.

Gabriel suffered a fractured eye socket in the attack and may need surgery.

He also suffered concussion and has not been able to return to school since the attack.

In response to the attack, South Yorkshire Police said: “An investigation is underway after a 13-year-old boy was reportedly assaulted outside Abbeyfield Primary School on Thursday, May 6.

“Officers responded to the report and conducted initial enquiries, which included reviewing nearby CCTV cameras.

“Enquiries are ongoing and we continue to appeal for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.”
