Police in Sheffield have issued an update over a city stabbing which left a man fighting for his life.

Officers were called to Poole Road in Darnall at 3.09am on Saturday (July 18) to reports a man had been stabbed.

A 26-year-old man found at the scene was rushed to hospital with stab wounds and was said on Saturday to be in a ‘critical’ condition in hospital.

A 25-year-old woman was also arrested at the scene by officers on suspicion of attempted murder.

However, a South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said today that the man’s condition had since improved and was now ‘stable’.

The woman arrested at the scene had since been released under police investigation, the spokesperson added.

The entire street was cordoned off by police until Saturday afternoon after which a lone patrol care was left stationed at the address.
