Police issue statement after gun fired on Sheffield street and car seen driving from scene

Detectives investigating a shooting in a Sheffield street are urging witnesses to come forward.

Officers were called to Warren Lane, Chapeltown, on Friday night after reports of shots being fired in the street.

A gold coloured Peugeot was seen driving away from the crime scene afterwards.

Nobody was injured in the shooting, which happened at around 11.30pm.

South Yorkshire Police said: “Police attended the scene and discovered evidence of firearms discharge. No one was injured.

An investigation has been launched and enquiries are ongoing to locate those responsible.

“Police are now asking for anyone with information to come forward. Were you in the area at the time? Did you see or hear anything suspicious? Do you know who might be responsible?”

Anyone with information about the shooting or gunman should call South Yorkshire Police on 101 and quote incident number 1,176 of April 9.
