Police bust six-figure cannabis farm at Sheffield home guarded by metal gates

A metal gate had been installed behind the front door to the property in Grimesthorpe, where a police search led to the discovery of cannabis worth £280,000.
The homemade security feature was found during a number of police raids yesterday aimed at tackling organised crime.

Hide AdTwo men, aged 34 and 24, were arrested on suspicion of drug offences.
Detective Inspector Andy Shields said: “On arrival, officers were forced to dismantle metal gates fixed behind the front door.
“These types of homemade fortifications are usually installed to protect those at the property whilst money and drugs are exchanged. It’s something we commonly find at properties involved in supply of drugs across the city.”
During yesterday’s raids, cannabis was also found a property in Gleadless, where a 65-year-old man was reported on summons on suspicion of being concerned in the production of cannabis.
