It was then filmed overtaking a second car on a bend, narrowly missing another oncoming car as it sped off.

The van driver who captured the driving shared it online and reported it to South Yorkshire Police.

He said: “On my way back up Stannington Road, I heard a tremendous noise coming from somewhere.

“All of a sudden, looking in my mirror, out of nowhere I soon caught a glimpse of this car on the opposite side of the road, overtaking cars behind me with a bend ahead, so the driver would not have known of oncoming traffic.

“It finally caught up with me, overtaking me with a clearly visible oncoming car - putting their lives in danger, as well as my own life and my customers’ beloved animals in my vehicle.

“He never even fully came back over into the left lane while narrowly missing the oncoming car, before overtaking the next vehicle in front of me, but this time actually on the bend.

"Again, there was another oncoming vehicle that luckily was somehow missed.”

He added: “This was the school lunchtime, but thankfully due to Covid-19 there has been no kids out going to the shops.

“There were a good five cars in front of me and that could have caused a fatal or life threatening injury if the timings had been slightly different due to the speeds.

“I have two children of my own that I wouldn't want to end up with only a mother, who is already doing extra hours at the NHS to help support our family due to me being self employed and affected financially from Covid-19.”

South Yorkshire Police said: “We can confirm we have received a report of this footage and incident.

“An investigation has been launched and enquiries are ongoing.”
