Several videos are circulating online which show fighting in the street and residents once again ignoring social distancing guidelines.

A 17-year-old-boy was also arrested on suspicion of a firearms offence on Sunday (26 July). The teenager was seen carrying a BB gun in a video shared on social media.

Officers were already in the area responding to reports of a fight on Popple Street at around 7.45pm involving “a large group of people” when he was detained.

CCTV stills show around 20 people gathered on the street before several men surround another man, who stumbles to the floor after a confrontation.

Police said the group “quickly dispersed” when officers arrived.

Two men were also arrested on suspicion of affray in relation the incident.

It comes after three men were hospitalised following another street brawl on Hinde House Road on Saturday afternoon. A video of that incident showed several people fighting with weapons, including what looks like chairs.

Officers attended and engaged with those involved and enquiries are ongoing to identify the perpetrators.

Nasar Raoof, vice chair of the Firth Park Neighbourhood Network, which campaigns for greater police action to combat crime in the area, said some residents on the estate are “living in fear”, with the most vulnerable left to “fend for themselves.

Anyone with any information about the fight on Sunday is asked to call 101 quoting incident number 823 of 26 July.
