Murder suspect arrested over death of Rotherham woman Elizabeth "Betty" Clark, 91, remains on bail
Beloved Elizabeth “Betty” Clark was found injured at home and passed away two months later
A man arrested on suspicion of the murder of a 91-year-old Rotherham woman, who is believed to have suffered fatal injuries on the same day her bank card was stolen, remains on police bail, as investigations continue.
Elizabeth “Betty” Clark was found at her home on Peveril Close in the Kiveton Park area of Rotherham with serious injuries on September 11, 2025.
She passed away in hospital as a result of her injuries around two months later on November 12, 2025.

Detectives from South Yorkshire Police’s (SYP) Major Crime Unit subsequently launched an investigation into the circumstances around Betty’s death.
In December 2025, a 47-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of Betty’s murder.
The man arrested on suspicion of Betty’s murder remains on police bail today (Wednesday, April 22, 2026).
When asked if any further arrests have been made or if anyone has been charged in connection with Betty’s death, a SYP spokesperson said: “There are no updates in relation to this incident to share at this time.”
“Any information, no matter how small, could be vital”
Last month, SYP renewed their appeal for information.
Speaking on March 17, 2026 - just over four months on from Betty’s death - the force confirmed detectives now believe Betty sustained her injuries on September 10, 2025 - the day before she was found seriously injured.
They also revealed that Betty’s bank card was stolen on the same day, and was used to make multiple transactions around the Kiveton Park area over a six day period running from then (Wednesday, September 10, 2025), through to Tuesday, September 16, 2025.
Speaking last month, Detective Inspector Adam Watkinson, senior investigating officer on the case, said: "Our investigation has been progressing, with a team of officers working hard to find answers for Betty's family.
"Our enquiries have suggested that Betty was unfortunately a victim of a theft the day before she was found with her injuries. Our enquiries remain on going but we are particularly interested in anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the Kiveton Park area between 10 and 16 September.
"Any information, no matter how small, could be vital to our investigation.
"Betty was well-loved within her local community, by her many friends, family and neighbours, and our priority remains the same - to find answers."
