Caroline Smith says she was sitting beside the front window in the living room of her flat on Market Street in Highfields, beside the Post Office, when the car crashed into the property yesterday, Friday, November 6.

The 47-year-old says two people smashed her windows in with baseball bats during the terrifying attack, which she claims happened shortly after she had received threats on social media.

Ms Smith also told how the car narrowly missed her five-year-old granddaughter, who had been returning home from visiting the shop.

“All my windows are through, there’s a bit of the wall missing and all the flats have been left without gas,” she said.

"I was sitting right next to the window when it happened. I would rather they’d have come in and beaten me up like I was asking them to.

“I’m feeling anxious but I’m OK. The thing I’m most distressed about is that the car nearly ran over my granddaughter.”

Ms Smith, who has moved out of the property for her safety, added that two men and a woman were involved in the attack.

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police said officers were called at around 5pm to reports of a car going into the front of a property. He added that an investigation was underway and no one had been arrested.

Anyone with information has been asked to call 101, quoting incident number 725 of November 6.
