MP Marie Tidball urges residents to “wait for further information” over High Green evacuation
A Sheffield MP has issued a statement following the evacuation at High Green after a 100 metre police cordon was put in place.

Marie Tidball, Labour MP for Penistone and Stocksbridge, said: “I am aware that since Friday emergency services have been in attendance at a house on Mapplebeck Road, High Green as part of an ongoing investigation to ensure the affected property and surrounding homes are safe.
“I know that this is causing constituents in the area considerable stress. Please be assured that I am in contact with South Yorkshire Police and will share a follow-up when I receive further information.
“I urge all residents in the area to cooperate with the police and wait for further information.”
The police cordon was put in place around a property on Mapplebeck Road and an army bomb disposal team is present in the area.

The cordon is expected to remain in place throughout today whilst emergency services and specialist agencies continue their work.
Sheffield City Council has set up a helpline for those who have been affected by the evacuation.
Residents can ring 0114 293 0111 for support.
