Sheffield dealer's trove of drugs and zombie knives found by officers on beat who smelled cannabis in car
The dealer was caught three times with drugs, including straight after fleeing the scene of a car crash
A trove of weapons and drugs that put a Sheffield drug dealer behind bars was uncovered thanks to a police stop-and-search hunch.
Officers on patrol in Sharrow on April 5, 2026, searched a car after picking up the smell of cannabis.

The driver of the vehicle, Mohammad Khan, was arrested after officers found snap bags of cannabis in the car.
And while the 22-year-old was being transported to custody, an extensive search of his vehicle unearthed the full scale of his offending.
Within the Vauxhall were several car keys, one of which opened a nearby Hyundai I10 - and inside that car officers found drugs, several zombie knives and a box of business cards suspected to be calling cards for a drugs line.
South Yorkshire Police said Khan was bailed following his arrest “to allow for expert analysis and further enquiries to be conducted”.
But later that month, Khan managed to evade officers during a foot chase, and in the process ditched items of clothing which contained further wraps of Class A drugs.
Then, on May 3, a vehicle registered to Khan was involved in a collision on Sharrow Lane, with witnesses to the crash describing a man matching Khan's description fleeing the scene.
A search of the vehicle involved again identified a car key which was used to open a second vehicle containing drugs.
As the scale of Khan's offending began to be identified, Sheffield Fortify - a dedicated team responsible for tackling serious and organised crime in the district - took over the investigation and continued to carry out enquiries into Khan.
This culminated in a warrant being executed at Khan's home, where officers found a number of mobile phones as well as calling cards matching the ones found in the Hyundai I10 in April 2026.
Khan, of Abbeydale Road, Sheffield, was charged with three counts of possessing with intent to supply Class A drugs, two counts of possessing with intent to supply Class B drugs, two counts of possessing a knife blade/sharp pointed article in a public place, driving a vehicle dangerously and perverting the course of justice.
He pleaded guilty to all counts at an earlier hearing. On September 9, Khan was jailed for six years and four months.
