No arrests have yet been made over the shooting but South Yorkshire Police confirmed today that it is being treated as a ‘targeted attack’.

The force said it is keeping an open mind as to whether the gun attack is linked to any other incident.

In a statement, it said: “We are following up a number of lines of enquiry and keeping an open mind as to whether or not this incident is linked to any others.”

Sergeant Adam Wood said: “We understand how concerning an incident like

this can be to the local community. I’d like to assure residents that additional officers are out patrolling the area today, and for the rest of the week, to offer extra

reassurance.

“We are also bringing in officers from our Serious Violent Crime Taskforce to offer additional support to our neighbourhood team, to ensure everyone in this

community feels safe and comfortable in going about their daily lives.

“We also want people to feel confident talking to us. If you have any concerns we’d encourage you to speak to our officers out on the beat.”
