Man arrested for attempted murder after mosque stabbing

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a stabbing at a mosque.

Police were called to the scene in Park Road, near Regent's Park, in central London at around 3.10pm on Thursday.

A man with stab injuries was taken to hospital.

Scotland Yard said the force is waiting for an update on his condition while officers continue to investigate the stabbing.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed the injured man was aged in his 70s.

He has been assessed in hospital and his condition is not life-threatening.

A crime scene has been put in place and inquiries continue.

Images posted to social media showed a white man in a red hooded top, jeans and bare feet being pinned to the floor by police officers inside the mosque, as others, including a small child, watched on.

One video showed a knife on the floor under a plastic chair.
