Man released by police after being quizzed over stabbing outside mosque in Sheffield suburb

A man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a stabbing outside a Sheffield mosque has been released under investigation after police questioning.

The 20-year-old was arrested after a 35-year-old man ran into the Markazi Jamia Masjid mosque on Industry Road, Darnall, pleading for help.

He had been stabbed in an attack outside at around 3.30pm on Saturday, January 30.

Emergency first aid was provided until police and paramedics arrived.

South Yorkshire Police said the injured man remains in hospital today.
