British Transport Police said: “British Transport Police were called to the line near Sheffield at 6.54am this morning following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

“Paramedics also attended, however sadly a man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“This incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

Trains were cancelled earlier today while the tracks were blocked and replacement bus services were provided.

Services are now running again but some services may still be cancelled, delayed or diverted as a result of the death.
