Man left fighting for life after police chase through South Yorkshire ends with crash

Three people fled, abandoning a fourth occupant who was critically injured, after a police chase through South Yorkshire ended with a crash.

The chase began when police tried to pull over a black Peugeot in Brierley, Barnsley, and it failed to stop yesterday, Sunday, May 2, at 5.55pm.

It ended soon after when the Peugeot was involved in a collision with a silver Ford at the junction of Park Road and Brierley Road.

The driver and two other occupants of the Peugeot fled by foot, leaving behind the front seat passenger, a man in his 50s, who suffered life-threatening injuries.

He was taken to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

The four occupants of the Ford sustained minor injuries in the collision.

Police have appealed for any witnesses or those with dash cam footage to get in touch.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting incident number 691 of May 2.
