Man fighting for life after police chase where driver and passengers ran away

A man critically injured in a collision during a police chase in South Yorkshire is still fighting for life.

The man, in his 50s, was a passenger in a car which failed to stop for officers in the Brierley area of Barnsley, on Sunday, May 2.

The black Peugeot was pursued by officers towards Park Road, where it was involved in a collision with a silver Ford.

Three occupants of the Peugeot, including the driver, jumped out of the car and ran off.

The remaining occupant, the front seat passenger, suffered life-threatening injuries in the smash and was taken to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition today.

The four occupants of the Ford escaped with minor injuries.

No arrests have yet been made.

Motorists in the area at the time who may have dash cam footage should come forward.
