Man in critical condition after attack as Sheffield's Ecclesall Road remains closed by police

A man is fighting for his life after suffering serious injuries in an assault on Ecclesall Road in Sheffield yesterday.

Emergency services were called shortly after 5.30pm on Saturday, September 19 to reports that a man had been assaulted.

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: “The 36-year-old was taken to hospital by air ambulance, where he remains in a critical condition.

“Officers remain in the area carrying out enquiries, and we anticipate the road will be reopened later today.”

South Yorkshire Police are urging anyone who saw the incident or who was driving through the area with dash cam footage to contact them.

Call officers on 101 quoting incident number 720 of Saturday, September 19.
